Harriers Events - w/c 14 August

Tuesday 15 August

Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.

This week's session is Paarlauf on the Leisure Centre track, at 6:15pm & 7:00pm. Both sessions will be coached by Sue and Neil.

Coach Sue says: 'A changed Paarlauf session this week. Please be warmed up and ready to start.

You need to pair up with a runner of about the same speed; coaches will help with this.

First 15 mins is 400s run at bottom end of level 3, and increasing to level 3/2, followed by 3mins rest.

Then it's 12 mins back to the usual paarlauf, 200s run at level 2.

To finish will be a mass 200 flat out or if you prefer a bit of a warm down.

All will be explained on the night. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Juniors

All track sessions are suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Sue or Neil prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.

Performance Session

A Performance Session will take place on the Leisure Centre track, starting at 6:30pm. Eddie will deconflict the session with Sue and Neil before the evening, and use the outer lanes if necessary. Performance sessions are open to all club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.

Thursday 17 August

This Thursday is the final race in the Handicap Series in Chepstow Park Woods. There are still a number of people in with a chance of winning the overall Handicap trophy, but you need to have run at least 3 of the 4 Handicap races with your best 3 positions counting, so make sure you take part to have a chance of winning. Even if you haven't taken part in enough races for the trophy, there are still on-the-night prizes for the 4th race so come along anyway for a great time.

Parking is at Chepstow Park Wood Car Park which is limited, so please park sensibly and car share where possible. There is additional parking a short walk away at Fedw Wood Car Park.

First runners will start from around 6:30pm, with all due to finish around 7:30pm. A full start list will be advertised early in the week.

If you are not racing the handicap, then feel free to come along for your run / walk and join us for the social. Just remember to tell starters / finishers what you're doing as you pass them.

After the race will be a social in the Fountain Inn, Trellech Grange, NP16 6QW. Food and the first drink will be paid for by the club. This is where the overall and fourth race winners will be announced and prizes awarded.

Due to the Handicap, there will be no refreshments in the Leisure Centre bar this week.

You are asked to not to attend Harriers training or events if you have symptoms, or are advised to self isolate in accordance with Welsh guidelines.
