Harriers Training - w/c 26 June

Tuesday 27 June

Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.

This week's session is Fartlek on the Leisure Centre track, at 6:15pm & 7:00pm. Both sessions will be coached by Dick and Bethan.

Coach Dick says: 'Please arrive warmed up, or allowing enough time to jog a couple of laps before the session starts. You will run for a continuous 30 minutes at a steady “Sunday Run” pace, with short bursts at a faster effort of the “2 word” variety. Listen for the coach’s whistle to signal the change of pace.

Try to be consistent throughout the 30 minutes, so that your fast pace is as quick at the end of the session as it was when you started.

Likewise you should drop down to the same steady pace when you hear the slow-down whistle, NOT a walk.  The coaches will be watching!

Fartlek runners will be using the outside lanes. At no time before, during or after the session should anyone doing it go inside lane 5 which will be marked off for the Performance session. Warming up, briefing, warm-down, review and stretching will happen outside the track'.

Juniors

All track sessions are suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Dick or Bethan prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.

Performance Session

A Performance Session will take place on the Leisure Centre track, starting at 6:30pm. Eddie will deconflict the session with Dick and Bethan before the evening, and use the outer lanes if necessary. Performance sessions are open to all club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.

Thursday 29 June

Thursday's run is the Coastal Path, meet in the lower Leisure Centre carpark at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start. Neil is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk.
