Harriers Training - w/c 27 February

Please note hi-viz is mandatory for all sessions

Tuesday 28 February

Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.

This week's session is the Severn Bridge Hills at 6:30pm, coached by Dick and Paul. Please meet in the underpass, already warmed up. We will do some drills in the underpass prior to the session.

Coach Paul says: 'The Severn Bridge Hills session focuses on uphill running, to improve technique and pace judgement. The session comprises running continuous loops of the short steeper hill up from the underpass, turning back along the Severn Bridge, before turning back again to run up the longer, less steep hill. Turning at the top, you have a jog recovery back to the start. The session is 2 x 15 minutes, with a 3 minute active recovery between sets. Each lap is approximately 600m.

Focus on improving your uphill technique on the shorter, steeper hill. On the longer hill, focus on building strength endurance and a pace that you can maintain to the top. You want to be running at Level 3 up the long hill so your RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) will be – able to say ‘one or two words only’.

Keep left throughout each lap and please be aware of other road users on the bridge - traffic (cyclists, emergency vehicles, dog walkers) accessing the Severn bridge. All runners must be wearing High-Viz and reflective gear'.

This session is suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain within arm's reach at all times while running. Speak to Steve Dilley and Dick prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.

High-viz is mandatory
