Harriers activities - w/c 29 August

Tuesday 30 August

Tuesday is the fifth and final GLCL road race, at The Olive Tree Cwmbran, NP44 2JJ. The race starts at 7:30pm.

Men's Team Captain Steve says: 'We need at least 24 men and 24 Ladies to fill all our teams. This is a good venue/course and a great team event for all standards of runners. Usually about 400 taking part. If you are new to the club and haven’t run in a GLCL road race before come and see what it’s about'.

Please see below route.

Thursday 01 September

This week's session is 400s on the Leisure Centre track, with Kevin & Kelly at 6:15pm and James & Lindsey at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.

Coach Kev says: 'The session is track 400s @ Zone 3 effort with 90 secs rest. Before the session starts there will some drills and a 1 lap warm up but when you get there it could be good to do your own warm up routine around the track.

Groups are expected to complete 7-10 laps according to their speed. The coach will keep groups informed of how much time is left to enable them to gauge how many laps they can do on the night. A flag will be located approximately 100m from the end of the 400m lap for those intending to test out their finishing speed but remember to keep form throughout.

Please make sure relaxation, good posture, and good pace judgement become part of every effort during this session.

Warm/Cool Down - jogging around the track and static stretches. See you all Thursday'.

A Performance Session will also take place on the track starting at 6:30pm. These sessions are open to club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.
