Tuesday 21 June
Tuesday is the second GLCL race of the road season at Parc Bryn Bach, starting at 7:30pm.
Men's Team Captain Steve says: 'A different course to normal it will seem strange running around the lake in the opposite direction. Two times up the hill once near the start and one near the end. Just over 5 miles in distance. To get full A,B and C teams we would need 24 Men and 24 Ladies, every runner contributes. There are likely to be between 400-500 runners of all standards running, so a race for everyone. Collect numbers from Sarah Bell before the race. She tells me she hopes to get there early and be parked near the Cafe. The cafe serves drinks and snacks and I believe there will be presentations afterwards for the winners of the XC series. It’s a good course and it would be great to get a large turnout. See you there! Postcode if you haven’t been before is NP22 3AY'.
Thursday 23 June
This week's session is Paarlauf on the Leisure Centre track, with Dick & Kelly at 6:15pm, and Richard & Kelly at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.
Coach Dick says 'This week’s training is Paarlauf on the track, and will be on Thursday following the GLCL road race on Tuesday at Parc Bryn Bach. You will need to find a partner of about the same speed to share fast relay surges of 200 metres on opposite sides of the track, alternating with a slow walk/jog recovery across the middle of the track.
Make sure you’ve done a 10 minute warmup jog before lining up for either the 6.15 or the 7 o’clock session. We’ll then be doing some sharpening-up drills to bring us up to speed for the 200 metre bursts at Zone 3.
Rich, Kelly and Dick are looking forward to working with you'.
