Harriers Training - w/c 06 June

Tuesday 07 June

This week's session is 800s on the Leisure Centre track, with Kevin & Doug at 6:15pm and Berna & Stuart at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.

Coach Kevin says: 'This week we have our favourite 800 metres, but don't worry there is a little twist its going to be a group event with all taking part looking to help your colleagues to the finish line. The group should be arranged in group sizes between 3-6 persons, one person will take responsibility for timing the group
( 800m time and recovery time 90 secs).

This is an opportunity for faster runners to help the slower runners in your group to do a decent session. If necessary the faster runners should start behind their colleagues, catch them up and see them through the first lap, then if you need a burn up there will be a cone at about 700m to get that fast fix you require.

If you feel you don't belong in a group for whatever reason  move up or down to the next group but make sure you tell the group your joining them.

This session will run the first lap at 60-70% effort with 80% effort (zone 3) for the next.

Usual group strategy:
A & B  (split group if too large) 800m x 6
C & D (split group if too large) 800m x 6
E & F (split group if too large) 800m x 5
G & H 800m x 4 or 5 (see how you feel after the 4th effort)

Now for all you Facebook social media  lovers here's your opportunity to contact friends before the session to make up a group. Prove to the coaching team it works by being group ready on the night. Remember you're running for your friends so think twice before speeding off. See you all Tuesday'.
