Tuesday 31 May
This week's session is Pyramids on the Leisure Centre track, with Sue & Joanne at 6:15pm and Dick & Sarah at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.
Coach Sue says: 'Track Pyramids is a speed-endurance session and is a good way to develop pace judgement as the distance changes.
The basic framework is 200/400/800/400/200 then repeat. In between the efforts there is a 90 second active recovery; runners should use this to regroup and mentally prepare for the next effort. Between the two sets is a 3 minute recovery; use this to rest and focus on making the second set.
Some of the lower pace group runners may find the session too long, and these runners should miss the second 800m.
I will have the timer running and all runners should aim to finish in 30 minutes'.
Thursday 02 June
Thursday's run is Bayfield to Great Barnet's and St Pierre Woods. Meet in the lower Leisure Centre at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start, where Neil is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk. You are encouraged to wear red, white and blue for the jubilee, or maybe your club top.
After the run is a jubilee party at Clare and Neil's house, 1 Piercefield Avenue, where the London Marathon ballot will also be drawn. You can look forward to a drink, some cake, and a chat. Have a lovely time!
