Tuesday 19 April
This week's session is 400s on the Leisure Centre track, with Berna and Paul at 6:15pm and Richard and Stuart at 7:00pm.
Coach Berna says: 'You will be running as many 400s, with a 90 second active recovery, as you can safely and consistently complete in 25 minutes.
The aim is to develop aerobic power and speed. Focus on running in a group, keeping up a consistent pace, and good running form.
You will first complete a warm up lap with drills and each pace group will agree the order of leading and timing of recovery periods before the session.
During the 400s the coaches will encourage you to increase your cadence, and with it your speed firing up your fast Twitch muscle fibres - Fast Oxidative -Glycolytic (FOG), when running downhill on the final bend to the finish, while maintaining good form all the way.
The session will end with a cool down jog bringing the heart rate down and static stretching to reduce (DOMS) delayed -onset muscle soreness'.
Thursday 21 April
Thursday's run is the second club handicap at Chepstow Park Woods. The first runners will be off at 6:30pm; look out for further details on FB & BB.
