Tuesday 12 April
This week's session is Paarlauf on the Leisure Centre track, with Dick and John at 6:15pm and Dick and Lindsey at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive. The Leaders will then start the session with drills that bring your body up to a good starting pace that you can sustain throughout. If you’re able to time your surges, see how consistent you can be from the first to the last.
Each Paarlauf surge asks you to run at Zone 3 for 200 metres with off recovery jogs of the same time as your surge, if your partner is about as fast as you. You will do two 15 minute blocks either side of a three minute active rest.
200 metres is about the shortest distance we train at, and you can really run at full stretch with arms and legs driving you round the track. The coaches will be looking for a high knee lift and arms swinging from hip to chin. Try to concentrate on one of these aspects, maybe on alternative surges.
Remember to gather at the end after your warmdown jog for stretches and a Review with the coaches. They would like to hear how consistent you were, plus any other feedback you may have to share.
Wednesday evening is the Auction of Services at the racecourse, in aid of DECs appeal for Ukraine. The evening starts at 7:00pm. Look out for further details on FB & BB.
Thursday 14 April
Thursday's run is 3 Woods. Meet in the lower Leisure Centre at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start, where Esther is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk.
After the run is tea/coffee and biscuits in the Leisure Centre bar, do please join us for a drink and a chat.
COVID-19
You are asked to not to attend Harriers training or events if you have symptoms, or are advised to self isolate in accordance with Welsh guidelines.
