Tuesday 18 January
This week's session is Elm Road, with Kev & Neil at 6:00pm, and Berna & Kelly at 7:00pm. Meet at the junction of Elm Road and Gloucester Road; there is parking in Elm Close adjacent to the start.
Coach Kev says 'The session starts at the Elm Close end of the road. The designated effort is decided by the coach but is normally between 10k and half marathon effort.
The aim of the session is to improve speed endurance, running technique focusing on driving arms backwards appropriate to pace, and good running form.
There will also be a chat about breathing exercises to help with running (and not only running) from the coach.
The session consists of 30 mins of running at 10k/HM – Zone 2 effort starting at the Elm Close end of Elm Road.
The Start is downhill and then climbs to the turn point (the wall), a short recovery of 1 min before returning to the start and repeating. There is a relaxed jog of 1 min at each turning point go round the left hand side of the wall at one end and a circular turn at the Elm Close end.
Keep to the left at all times'.
High viz is mandatory for winter sessions. Head torches will not be needed, especially as runners will be facing each other during the session, but look out for vehicles pulling in and out of property. Please do think about whether you will need a head torch on the way to and home from the session however.
In order to allow Kev and Berna to plan the best session for attendees, you are requested to register if you plan to come, giving your name and pace group only. Registration is not compulsory however, and details will not be retained following the session.
