Hi-Vis is mandatory for all Tuesday and Thursday road training
Tuesday 05 December
Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.
This week's session is Thornwell Loops starting at 6:45pm, with Neil and Dick. Like last time we will meet at Thornwell Football Club carpark for the briefing, and will then walk to the start together. Either warm up with a jog down, or arrive early enough to warm up before the session starts. Please use the time beforehand to keep moving or stretch if already warmed up as it is forecast to be cold.
Coach Neil says: 'We will be running clockwise. The 1126m long loop is mainly on well-lit pavements apart from crossing three side roads, please run up the hill leading to the roundabout in SINGLE FILE. Some people do take advantage of a footpath in the grass alongside the hill. The main effort will be up the hill to the roundabout, but keep the effort going until the crest of the hill, about halfway along the back straight, then use the rest of the downhill to get to the recovery point keeping focused on running form. Recovery of 90-120 seconds in a small loop in the safe area (head-torches off here please).
Do as many laps as you can fit into 30 minutes'.
Juniors
This session is not suitable for juniors participation.
Performance Session
A Performance Session will take place on the Leisure Centre track, starting at 6:30pm. These sessions are open to all club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.
Thursday 07 December
Thursday's run is the Severn Bridge, meet in the underpass at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start. John is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk.
The 45 minute run option provides a guided run for those new to running / graduating from C25K / returning from injury. The pace of the run is set to match the slowest runner; all are welcome and no one is left behind. This is an out and back run – out for 20 mins and then back (with a spare 5 minutes contingency).
Hi-Vis is mandatory, and you will require a headtorch.
As we're on the bridge there will be no tea and coffee afterwards.
Thursday Volunteers
We are now looking for MCs and 45 minute run leaders for after Christmas. Please put your name down to volunteer if you can, using the link below.
Speedway 10k - Sunday 28 January
Helpers are needed for this event, both on the day and setting up the day before. Race starts at 11:00am. Please contact James Blore if you can help.
Volunteering at parkrun
A friendly reminder that if you love parkrun, please consider volunteering regularly at a local event. Some (particularly Rogiet & Rogiet junior parkrun) are at risk due to a lack of volunteers.
Dickie.
