Tuesday 16 May
Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.
This week's session is 800s on the Leisure Centre track, at 6:15pm & 7:00pm. Both sessions will be coached by Sue (hopping on one leg) and Bethan, assisted by Gerry.
Coach Sue says: 'Please make sure you are fully warmed up for the start of the session: this should involve jogging for at least 10 minutes, a few speed bursts, and a few drills.
The evenings treat is 800m intervals. Basically, the session is 5 x 800m, as follows: 400 @ 5km pace + 400 @ 3km pace, with 2 minutes active rest.
So imagine you are out there on the track competing in the 800m, you come round to the end of the first lap and they ring the bell to signify last lap and you should up your pace, then coming up to the finish someone tries to sneak past and you have to up your pace again.
A few minutes rest and repeat and repeat... pace judgement will be very important if you are going to last the 30 minutes'.
Juniors
All track sessions are suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Sue or Bethan prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.
Performance Session
A Performance Session will take place on the Leisure Centre track, starting at 6:30pm. Eddie will deconflict the session with Sue and Bethan before the evening, and use the outer lanes if necessary. Performance sessions are open to all club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.
