This Tuesday is the first race of the GLCL road series, being held at Parc Bryn Bach, Merthyr Road, Tredegar, NP22 3AY. The race starts at 7:30pm. Parking is at the Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate located just past the entrance gates to the parc, over the bridge and past the first roundabout. This is an approx. 10-15 minute walk from the start line. DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD LEADING TO THE MAIN PARC ENTRANCE (MERTHYR ROAD) OR ON THE BRIDGE OVER THE HEADS OF THE VALLEYS DUAL CARRIAGEWAY.
For those not racing the GLCL, Eddie will deliver one session of 400s on the Leisure Centre field, starting at 6:30pm.
Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.
Coach Eddie says: 'Mixed Pace 400s. Continuing to develop speed endurance, which 400s are great for.
Up to 10 x 400 as follows; Odd number reps are at 5k pace , even number reps are 200 @ 5k and 200 @ 3k.
So, effort level 2 for the odd reps and level 3 for the 200m part of the even reps. Active rest is between 60 secs – 2 mins.
One session starting at 6:30 so be ready to go then (6:15 warm up)'.
Juniors
All track sessions are suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Eddie prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.
Thursday 04 May
Thursday is our Coronation Social Run. Meet at the Bandstand by the river at 6.35pm where we'll set you off on the Boughsprings run +/- Loop Rd.
Then return to the bandstand for a 'bring your own' picnic. Remember to wear your best union jack outfit or red, white and blue. There will be a prize for the best fancy dress. If the weather is inclement we'll retire to the pub!
Parking at the Castle or Drill Hall is free after 6pm where you can keep your picnic rugs and chairs until after you've run.
Respiratory Infections
You are asked to not to attend Harriers training or events if you have symptoms, or are advised to self isolate in accordance with Welsh guidelines.
