Tuesday 27 September
This week's session is Paarlauf on the Leisure Centre track, with Dick & Bethan at 6:00pm, and Kevin & Paul at 6:30pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive. Note that the early session cool down and stretches, and the late session briefing and warm up, will be conducted off the track.
Coach Dick says: 'You will need to find a partner of roughly similar pace to share fast relay surges of 200 metres on opposite sides of the track accompanied by a slow walk/jog recovery across the middle of the track.
We’ll be doing some sharpening-up drills to bring you up to speed for the 200 metre bursts at Threshold pace. The benefit of faster pace running will be an improvement in your race speed generally and a faster race finish. Remember you will have an active recovery of the same duration as you cross the track to arrive in time to meet your partner.
We will have 2 sets of 15 & 12 minutes each with a 3 minute active recovery between sets. The coaches will blow the whistle just before the end of each set to give people the chance of an all-out thrash to finish each set.
We will follow with a warm down lap, some static stretches and a Review of the session'.
A Performance Session will also take place on the track starting at 6:30pm, using lane 4. These sessions are open to club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.
Thursday 29 September
Thursday's run is Three Woods. Meet in the lower Leisure Centre at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start, where Alan is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk. Now the nights are pulling in, please consider whether you'll need hi-vis and / or a headtorch.
After the run is tea/coffee and biscuits in the Leisure Centre bar, do please join us for a drink and a chat.
