Tuesday 16 August
This week's session is Fartlek on the Leisure Centre track, with James & John at 6:15pm and James & Bethan at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.
Coach James says: 'Thankfully the weather looks to be significantly cooler!
Fartlek means ‘speed play’ in Swedish, and is a great way to develop your aerobic capacity and practise your pace judgement. A loop will have been laid out on the field, this will incorporate some of the running track and some of the hill in the field corner. Cones will indicate the start and finish of each speed effort. The session is 25 minutes of continuous running with each effort being at Zone 3.
Your speed after an effort should be the same as it was before you started it. Think about running tall with a nice upright posture, both for the efforts and recoveries'.
A Performance Session will also take place on the track starting at 6:30pm. These sessions are open to club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.
Thursday 18 August
