Tuesday 12 July
This Tuesday is the third race in our Rose Inn series. You can help out, or run, or help out and then run. All the details on FB and the website.
Thursday 14 July
This week's session is 800s on the Leisure Centre track, with Dick & Kelly at 6:15pm, and Sue & Sarah at 7:00pm. You should warm up for at least 10 minutes prior to the session start time, either on the way to the track or around the school field when you arrive.
Coach Dick says 'Thursday’s session is 800s on the track, running clockwise for a nice change. In expectation of warm weather we’ll be meeting in the shade on the far side of the field where we’ll also do our warm-up (ha!) exercises and where the recovery area will be.
Make sure as usual that you put in a preparatory 10 minute jog before meeting with the coaching teams at either 6.15 (Kelly and Dick) or 7 (Sarah and Sue).
Runners should form small groups of roughly equal ability and agree who’ll be leading each 800.
Leaders should set their group going at a steady Zone 2 pace for the first 400, and then gradually pick up the pace during the second lap. It’s the responsibility of each leader to make sure each group takes advantage of a full two minutes recovery walk round the flags.
Try for consistency in times as you reel off your 30 minutes of training, but it can be beneficial and fun to blast the final 100 metres of the very last 800!'.
COVID-19
You are asked to not to attend Harriers training or events if you have symptoms, or are advised to self isolate in accordance with Welsh guidelines.
Dickie.
