Harriers Training - w/c 02 Oct

Tuesday 03 October 

Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels. 

This week's session is Parkrun Pyramids on the Leisure Centre track, at 6:15pm & 7:00pm. Both sessions will be coached by Sue and Neil. Note that trail shoes are recommended for track sessions at this time of year.

Coach Sue says: 'Your last chance to run on the track in 2023 so come and enjoy it. Please make sure you are fully warmed up for the start of the session: this should involve jogging for at least 10 minutes, a few speed bursts and a few drills.

A tough but popular session this week. Parkrun pyramids. This session has been designed to improve your 5k time so it benefits all.

So session is 400 / 400 / 1km / 400 / 400

3mins break

200 / 400 / 400 / 200

Level 2 (two sentences) / Target 5k pace / level 3 (a few words) / Bust a gut'.

Juniors

All track sessions are suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Sue or Neil prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.

Performance Session 

A Performance Session will take place on the Leisure Centre track, starting at 6:30pm. Eddie will deconflict the session with Sue and Neil before the evening, and use the outer lanes if necessary. Performance sessions are open to all club members, and are of particular use to those who are targeting a particular race or PB. Speak directly to Eddie if you think they would benefit your training plan.


Thursday 05 October 

Thursday's run is Mathern, meet in the Leisure Centre bar at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start. Bridget is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk.

Hi-Vis is now mandatory, and you should bring a headtorch.

After the run is tea/coffee and biscuits in the Leisure Centre bar, do please join us for a drink and a chat.

Volunteering at parkrun

A friendly reminder that if you love parkrun, please consider volunteering regularly at a local event. Some (particularly Rogiet & Rogiet junior parkrun) are at risk due to a lack of volunteers.

Respiratory Infections

You are asked to not to attend Harriers training or events if you have symptoms, or are advised to self isolate in accordance with Welsh guidelines.
