Harriers News - w/c 30 October

Hi-Vis is mandatory for all Tuesday and Thursday road training

Tuesday 31 October

Please read these details carefully as it will save time on the night. Use the links below for information on time bands and training levels.

This week's session is Cross Country loops on the Leisure Centre field, starting at 6:45pm with Eddie and Sue.

Coach Eddie says: 'Its XC time and its a good idea to do some training off the roads and get your body used to softer ground. I have 2 loops designed at the LC track for next week. Loop 1 is easer than Loop 2.

Both Loops will start at the usual spot on the track and head off clockwise around the track.

Loop 1 will use lane 1 and keep to the right, while Loop 2 will use lane 5 and keep to the left.

Both will head down to the hill with the variants as follows

Loop 1 - Just as the hill starts to develop turn right at the cone and run along the flat section next to the astro pitch , up a short hill and back to the start.

Loop 2 - Run further down the hill and turn right at the cone up a short but steep hill and back straight up another short steep climb back to the track

Looking to do 8 reps minimum at level 3 effort with 2 mins minimum active rest'.

Off road shoes will be required, and you may use a headtorch if you wish.

Juniors

This session is suitable for Harriers Juniors aged 14 and over. A parent must remain present on the field throughout, but there is no requirement to run together. Speak to Steve Dilley and Eddie or Sue prior to the session if you intend to bring a junior.

Performance Session

The Performance Session this week will be combined with the session described above.

Thursday 02 November

Thursday's run is Beachley, meet in the Leisure Centre bar at 6:35pm for a 6:45pm start. Sarah is MC and will get you into in your groups. You may choose a tempo or more social run, a 45 minute out and back run, or a walk.

The 45 minute run option provides a guided run for those new to running / graduating from C25K / returning from injury. The pace of the run is set to match the slowest runner; all are welcome and no one is left behind. This is an out and back run – out for 20 mins and then back (with a spare 5 minutes contingency).

Hi-Vis is mandatory, and you will require a headtorch.

After the run is tea/coffee and biscuits in the Leisure Centre bar, do join us for a drink and a chat.

Thursday Volunteers

MCs and 45 minute run leaders are required between now and Christmas. Please add your name to the list if you can help out, link below.

Speedway 10k - Sunday 28 January

Helpers are needed for this event, both on the day and setting up the day before. Race starts at 11:00am. Please contact James Blore if you can help.

Volunteering at parkrun

A friendly reminder that if you love parkrun, please consider volunteering regularly at a local event. Some (particularly Rogiet & Rogiet junior parkrun) are at risk due to a lack of volunteers.

Enjoy your running.

Dickie.
