The Week Ahead 27 June 2011

Round 3 of the LCL series on Tuesday at what we still lovingly call the Oasis Club on the borders of Cwmbran and Croesyceiliog. Be ready to leave our LC at 6.30 prompt.

A very special race on Thursday – our Tintern Trot organised by Geoff Cram who says:“As usual this race provides entry-on-the-day only. The cost is £7 per runner.
Entry is at
Tintern Village Hall (Grid Ref: SO 531 001) from 6pm onwards.
Let’s hope we can beat 2010’s record entry of 176. Race starts at 7.30.

And finally on Saturday our annual trip to the seaside beckons – Charmouth, its race and fun run, the barbecue and drinks, and the beach games. Not too late to put your name down. Only £10, £5 for youngsters. All you can eat and drink and fun for all ages. Coach leaves 9.30.

  1. Can you tell me what this race is like please? Realistic description if poss. Thanks. Also what is Oasis Club called now?

  2. Well Jackie you've come to the right person for a realistic description(tee hee)!
A nice quiet location. Course is mainly flat with three short pulls over railway bridges plus a longish gentle hill up to the County Hall. Three sections on tarmac paths through the park alongside the Afon Llwyd, the rest being suburban roads.
About six (?) miles in total.
Now called Glan yr Afon, the sports club features 'interesting' decor, showers and a bar.
I think you'll like it all Jackie.
Hope that's realistic enough for you...
