The Week Ahead 16 August 2010

Tuesday brings the final LCL race of the summer series here at home in Chepstow. Jog up to the hospital crossroads and turn right into Mounton Road where we do our Hospital Hill sessions. Get your race number from Syd if it’s your first ever LCL Race – summer or winter.

On Thursday Berta has arranged an away run at Yorkley in the Forest of Dean. It starts and finishes at the Nag’s Head pub, and is easy to find by heading north up the A48, and turning left at the top of the hill that leads down into Blakeney. You pass through Viney Hill and look for the pub at a left turn. Postcode is GL15 4RX. See the map via this link http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=GL154RX&spn=0.0005,0.12&hl=en

Share cars at Leis Ctre up to 7pm.

Then on Sunday at 10.30 is the next race in the East Wales Champs series – the Campus2Campus race from Allt yr Yn uni campus to Caerleon Campus. Advance entry is recommended, but you can enter on the day. Details including the bus transfer on: http://www3.newport.ac.uk/docstore/r/njones06/Runners%20Information%20'10.pdf

You may have heard my plea for runners and MARSHALS for this event. We’re desperately looking for at least one more marshal (goody bag and transport laid on) to help this important race to be viable. Please contact Dick if you can help.

  2. Don't forget the "Brecon Beacons Fell Race" organised by Chepstow Harrier, Tom Gibbs. A great 19 mile circuit of the central Beacons with lots of lovely hills to run up and down.

  3. I should have plugged Tom's race - sorry. It's a classic long fell race, and I try to do it every year. As Tom so rightly says, the hills are lovely and if you listen carefully they're alive to the sound of musics, with songs ....
I hear Julie Andrews is marshalling checkpoint 1, or is it Berta? I do get them mixed up, don't you?

  4. What time are we aiming to start Berta's away run?

  5. Good question Karen. I guess we'll start running when everybody has got from the 7pm start from Chep LC to Yorkley.
    7.30 do you reckon?
